System Name: SEGi EduRate
Aims: To provide an efficient platform for evaluating lecturers and managing the lecturer evaluation process.
Technologies Used: CodeIgniter, Bootstrap, HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL (managed through phpMyAdmin)
Development Time: September - December 2023 (Diploma FYP)
Features: -
1. Lack of Timely Reminders
Previously, admins had to manually remind students to complete evaluation forms, often sending group messages that resulted in information overload. SEGi EduRate now sends automated, targeted email reminders only to students who haven't filled out the forms, starting three days before the evaluation deadline, without requiring any manual intervention.
2. Issues with Evaluation Integrity
In the previous approach, there was a risk of bias in the evaluations, with students potentially filling out the forms multiple times or sharing them with others who were not involved in the course. SEGi EduRate ensures that only authorized students can access and complete the evaluation forms anonymously, and each student can only submit the form once per evaluation, ensuring both accuracy and fairness.
3. Inefficient Evaluation Form Management
Previously, SEGi admins manually created and distributed evaluation forms using Microsoft Forms each semester. SEGi EduRate automates this process, sending the forms to all involved students and lecturers once the semester and evaluation form are created, eliminating manual checks and human error.
4. Low Participation in Evaluations
Due to the inconvenience of locating and accessing different evaluation forms, many students were reluctant to participate in the evaluation process. With SEGi EduRate, all evaluation forms are easily accessible in one central platform, encouraging higher participation rates and ensuring more comprehensive feedback for lecturers and course assessments.
1. Mobile Responsiveness
The current design is optimized for larger screens. Future enhancements will improve responsiveness for better mobile usability.
2. Enhanced Role-Based Access Control
Currently, administrators manage all evaluations without restrictions. A future update will add role-based access control, allowing faculty leaders to oversee their own programs and assign administrators to manage evaluations within their assigned faculty or program only.
